We will now outline how to specifically get to Suntec City using the MRT network below.

Getting to Suntec City using the MRT

Step 1: Book a hotel beside an MRT station.

Singapore is one of the most expensive places in the world for a living and visiting. Therefore, most tourists have to think about how much they want to spend before they visit the city.

A practical way that you can save some serious cash is by staying within walking distance to an MRT station. This will allow you to take the MRT right from Changi Airport to your hotel.

Then, when you want to go to places such as Suntec City you will not have to take a taxi to and from the station. These savings can add up especially if you are staying in the city for 3 or 4 days, or more.

Step 2: Choose your terminal station: City Hall, Esplanade or Promenade.

Suntec City can be accessed by three different neighbouring MRT stations:

City Hall Station

Esplanade Station

Promenade Station

Consequently, when you are planning your MRT trip to Suntec City you have to decide on which one you want to get off at.

Take a look at the train map of Singapore

City Hall Station is located on the East-West Line (Green) and the North-South Line (Red).

Esplanade Station is located on the Circle Line (Orange)

Promenade Station is located on the Downtown Line (Blue) and the Circle Line (Orange)

Step 3: Buy your MRT ticket for Suntec City

At the time of writing there are two main types of MRT tickets in Singapore.  The one that you choose really depends on your own personal circumstances while in the city.  We have listed the options below for your convenience:

  • Buying a stored-value card that can be used for multiple trips
  • Buy a Singapore Tourist Pass

Also, we strongly suggest that you read this comprehensive guide on how to buy MRT tickets in Singapore for additional information.

Stored value cards are the best option if you are staying for more than 3 days. If you plan on seeing a lot of different attractions in Singapore over a short period of time then you might want to look into buying a Singapore tourist pass and using it along with a Klook Attraction Pass. This combination will ensure affordable transportation and affordable entry into the top attractions (at discounted rates).

You can read this complete guide on buying Singapore Tourist Passes if you are interested in purchasing one.

Step 4: Take the MRT to City Hall, Esplanade or Promenade station.

Remember, you can take the MRT to either City Hall Esplanade or Promenade station to get to Suntec City.

Regardless of which one you are going to, it is pretty straightforward to ride the MRT.

While you are on the train you can expect to hear verbal announcements being made. These are designed to inform you of upcoming stations on the line. Also, expect to see signs above the exit doors.

When you hear one of the adjacent stations being announced, it is time to make your way closer to one of the exits on the train. This will ensure that you do not miss one of these during rush hour. Singapore’s MRT Network can get quite busy when people are going to and from work.
