“Everything you need to know about visiting Supertree Grove in Singapore.”

Why should you visit Supertree Grove in Singapore?

Supertree Grove refers to the collection of 18 ‘Supertrees’ that are located within Gardens by the Bay in Singapore. These massive, futuristic trees range between 25 and 50 metres tall and attract tons of visitors on an annual basis. Furthermore, each tree is specially designed with a large canopy that provides useful shade during the peak afternoon hours. Later, during the evening, the Supertrees provide a platform for impressive lights and sounds.

If you plan on visiting Singapore, then you should definitely consider visiting Supertree Grove and the surrounding attractions in Gardens by the Bay. Not only are the Supertrees photogenic, but they also provide an opportunity for visitors to capture panoramic views of the Marina Bay area using the Supertree Observatory

Interesting features of the Supertrees

The Supertrees are scattered throughout Gardens by the Bay which is directly behind Marina Bay Sands Hotel. There are 18 Supertrees in total. Twelve of these trees are clustered at Supertree Grove, with the remaining 6 in groups of 3 at other areas of Gardens by the Bay.

During the development of Supertree Grove, environmental considerations were made. For example, some of the Supertrees have photovoltaic cells which are designed to harvest solar energy. Singapore has become a very green city over the last 15 years and this area of Gardens by the Bay is perfect evidence of this shift. Some of the Supertrees are designed to help absorb and filter exhaust from nearby emissions.

A frequently asked question about the Supertrees at Supertree Grove is ‘how tall are they’? Well, they are equivalent in height to a 16-storey building which is quite impressive! They are stable (even in windy conditions) because of the reinforced concrete core and steel frame around the concrete.

There are over 158,000 plants and over 700 different types of species planted on the Supertrees which are organized differently based on their colour scheme. They are planted vertically in specialized containers. This contributes to offsetting carbon emissions.
